Plagiarism in Journalism:
In 2011, Kendra Marr, a rising star in journalism and a writer for Politico and the Washington Post, was forced to resign after her plagiarism of multiple articles was discovered (Rogers, 2019).
Presidential Plagiarism:
In 1988, Joe Biden dropped out of the Democratic presidential nomination when it was leaked that he had plagiarized in law school 23 years earlier (Ashare, 2019).
Songwriting Plagiarism:
Surfin’ USA by The Beach Boys was actually written by Chuck Berry years before and named it Sweet Little Sixteen. Eventually, The Beach Boys admitted to copying Berry’s work and gave him songwriting credits (Melis & Roffman, 2018).
Plagiarism in Physics:
A famous physicist, Etienne Klein, lost his job at the Institute for Advanced Studies for Science and Technology after it surfaced that he plagiarized the works of many different people. Although he maintains his innocence, he admits that he made “mistakes” (Enserink, 2017).
